Tops Ales for Tails is a passionately-supported fundraiser where sponsors, home brewers, craft breweries & distilleries, musicians, vendors and volunteers pull together to support local animal shelters in KZN. Over R200 000 was raised and donated to the Kloof & Highway SPCA from two sold-out events in 2016 & 2017.

The first event for 2018 will be held in aid of Project Dog and Feeding the Furballs on the 3rd February from 11am-6pm at the Wavepark in Gateway. The festival is family-friendly and the water slides, inflatable park, splash water play area and Toddlers Zone will be open to kids at the normal entrance fee.

An extensive selection of drinks will be on offer, including 30 brews donated by 20 members of the Durban Hombrewers Association. These home brews are not available to purchase anywhere else and 100% of the sales will go direct to the charities. Styles on offer include American Pale Ale, Irish Red Ale, Bohemian Lager, Pomaberry Cider & Belgian Blonde Ale, to name a few.

The 11 local craft producers who will be pouring a popular selection of beverages are: Ballito Brewing Company, Basset Brewery, Clockwork Brewhouse, Distillery 031, Doctrine Brewing, Durban Brewing Co, Poison City Brewing, Robsons Real Beer, Scavenger Brewery, The Gin Co and That Brewing Co.

There will also be a wine and cider bar.

Entertainment will be provided by I am Roarke, Cameron David & James Chandler, A-Frame, The Lion & The Bear, Stone Palace, No Fly Zone and Templar Funk.

The Wavepark restaurant and various vendors will provide a selection of food including vegetarian options, and the beer tent and entertainment & food court are well covered, ensuring a comfortable experience come rain or shine.

Early bird drinking tickets are R125 and include an event-branded glass for the craft beverages that will cost on average R30 for a glass. Half glass portions allow attendees to taste a larger variety over the day. Drinking tickets are limited and might be sold for R200 each at the gate, should any be left over.

This year a small VIP section, limited to just 4 tables in a private area, is available for R1500 per table of 6 drinkers and includes the drinking ticket costs, branded glasses and a waiter. Those looking to secure great seating and skip the queues should book these ASAP.

Non drinkers entry costs R50 per person.

Tickets to the kids sections are direct from the Wavepark on the day at R90 or R40

Regrettably no dogs will be allowed at this event and drinkers are not permitted to use the rides unless they pay for a separate pass.
