The Hidden Forest Wildlife Sanctuary

A 23-hectare forest sanctuary for captive-raised exotic primates. Primates come to us when their owners (mainly private individuals and zoos) no longer want them or if they have been confiscated by the authorities. At our sanctuary, they can live the rest of their lives roaming freely through the 23-hectares, living with other monkeys and indigenous wildlife, free from human interaction and exploitation. Visitors to the sanctuary directly contribute to the costs of running the sanctuary and looking after the animals as all proceeds from ticket and gift shop sales go directly to the sanctuary and there is no other external funding. Our forest sanctuary is located 2.5kms from our reception site. A visit starts with a short drive on an open top vehicle past lush sugar cane fields and macadamia plantations to our “hidden forest”. At the forest, visitors are taken on an informative and entertaining guided walking safari in search of the free-roaming primates and indigenous wildlife.
